Spring: In the Northeast Kingdom, residents and visitors alike celebrate the arrival of spring with spring skiing and maple sugaring. As the days grow longer and warmer, snow melts to reveal an abundance of local blooms. In the spring the average daytime temperature is 61 degrees.

Summer: In the summer, when the days are long and the breezes are gentle. the average daytime temperature is a perfect 80 degrees. Join in the fun of local festivals, music concerts, outdoor adventure, and more. Dine outdoors at local restaurants, or find the perfect picnic spot along our many local lakes and rivers.

Fall: The Northeast Kingdom is known for its brilliant Fall Foliage, which makes it a wonderful time for outdoor adventure, such as cycling and hiking. There are also plenty of opportunities to enjoy Fall Foliage Festivals and other harvest activities in the area. In the fall, the average daytime temperature is a crisp 66 degrees.

Winter: Winter festivals, downhill and cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and horse-drawn sleigh rides provide plenty of excitement during the snowiest months. In the winter the average temperature is a brisk 32 degrees.

The Lyndon Area is conveniently located right off of Interstate 91, just north of the junction of Interstate 91 and Interstate 93. These major highways, in addition to many other well-maintained state and local roads, make traveling to the Lyndon Area of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom easy and convenient.

Airports Serving the Lyndon Area of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom

International Airports: Burlington International Airport (Vermont, USA), Montreal International Airport (Montreal, Quebec, Canada), and Boston International Airport (Boston, MA, USA) are the three closest International Airports that serve the Lyndon Area of Vermont. Burlington International Airport is just over an hour and a half away in Burlington, VT. Montreal International Airport is approximately 2.5 hours away in Quebec, Canada. Boston International Airport, in Boston, Massachusetts, is approximately 3 hours south of the Lyndon Area.
Major airports in Manchester, NH (approximately 2.5 hours away) and Albany, NY (approximately 4 hours away) also serve the region.
State Airports: The Northeast Kingdom has three state airports: Caledonia County State Airport in Lyndonville; Newport State Airport in Newport  / Coventry and John H. Northeast Kingdom Byway

The Northeast Kingdom Byway offers endless recreational opportunities throughout the seasons, notable dining and lodging facilities, quintessential Vermont villages resplendent with classic architecture, enduring farmland, and a rich diversity of art, unique shops, entertainment, and event venues all year long. Along the way visitors can pursue a variety of traditional adventures, including mountain biking, alpine skiing, snowshoeing, ice climbing, golf, hiking, paddling, cross-country skiing, swimming, fishing, horseback riding, wildlife viewing and more or they can visit area farm stands and farmers markets which provide an abundance of fresh produces. Pick-it-yourself farms, offering the fresh delights of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, apples, corn, pumpkins, and more can also be found along the way.

The Northeast Kingdom Byway consists of a main byway corridor that includes the communities of Saint Johnsbury, Lyndon, East and West Burke, Westmore, Charleston, Derby and Newport. To enhance the visitors experience a collection of side trip itineraries for travelers who may wish to explore more extensively is also available.
